Abstract

In this work, the tribological properties (friction coefficient and wear resistance) of NbC-Hadfield steel carbide- steel in sliding wear conditions against steel 45 were investigated using the block–on–ring form. The results show that the wear process generates a layers on carbide-steel surface that has a higher at ~ 1,3 times microhardness than the origin material. Such effects are attributed to the substructure-based hardening of matrix phase during plastic deformation in the inter-grain space.
