Abstract

Shifrin B.M., Izvalov A.V. Experimental verification of M. V. Keldysh model of interaction of air wheel with supporting plane. Due development of concepts of dry friction of solids the interest to study shimmy and other problems of a tyre and vehicle dynamics was renewed. In this article the theoretical results of M. V. Keldysh model (1945) of the interaction of elas-tic air wheel with supporting plane are correlated with experimental results (20 graphic charts were built) which were per-formed much later than 1945. Three air wheel rating modes were studied: cross-translational and azimuthal rotational har-monic oscillations near zero slip angle and jump of slip angle. Experiments with air wheel oscillations were executed by Clark, Dodge, Nybakken in 1974, but with jump by Guo, Ren in 2000. To find the constants of M. V. Keldysh tyres, I. Besselink equation and string theory of a tyre were used. Ultimately, we conclude that the M. V. Keldysh model remains actual.
