Practical recommendations on beet slicers’ resource increasing

Abstract

As you know, in sugar production process beetroot is cut off as chips by beet-slicers. In previous studies theoreti-cally justifies and gives a new comprehensive solution of the problem related to the increase in the beet slicer wear-resistance by developing engineering and geometric methods of the optimization of slicers’ parameters and strengthening their slicing section. The wear-resistance of slicers is increased due to their slant facing and the lip angle of 9° for slicing section using combined approach to the hardening, in particular powerful laser beam treatment followed by the diffusion saturation with vapor-deposited refractory materials or simultaneous machining with ultrafine SiO2 powder. Development of theoretical base of beet slicers wear process in view of friction forces and cavitation influence gives reason to develop additional practical recommendations on beet slicers resource increasing. The goal is achieved by changing the profile of the cubic boron nitride grinding wheels working surfaces. Practical use of theoretical research improves beet slicers’ durability and increase profitability of sugar production, so it is appropriate and relevant.
